Key Information

Year 5 will have PE every Wednesday afternoon with coach Kenny. We will also be going swimming every Friday. Every Monday Mr Black will continue to teach computing and Mrs Sarmiento will teach Spanish. For those children who enjoyed learning the violin in year 3 and year 4, they are able to continue on a Thursday.

Maintaining excellent attendance and punctuality is very important. Please ensure your child is present and punctual at the beginning of the day. Gates open at 8.45 and the first lesson starts at 9am. The children are collected from the playground at 3:30pm.

How you can help

Children should be reading for 15 minutes daily. When reading, ask your child a wide range of comprehension questions. In addition to their own books, Bug Club is a great way to assess your child’s understanding of the book they have read. Children’s reading records will be checked on a weekly basis.

Homework is given out as and when appropriate and is tailored to your child's needs. Pupils will be given a set of spellings to learn each week and tested every Monday, so please ensure they are practising at home.

Times Table Rockstars challenges will be set every fortnight, this is another great tool to help your child keep up to date with their mental arithmetic schools, which are more vital than ever as they move through year 5 and the final phase of their primary school journey.
