Key Information

We have a number of regular activities which happen on the same day every week. On a Monday, Mr Black will be teaching computer skills to the class. We then have Spanish and violin lessons on a Thursday. Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit every Tuesday and Friday.

Maintaining excellent attendance and punctuality is so important. Please ensure your child is present and punctual at the beginning of the day. Gates open at 8.45 and the first lesson starts at 9am. The children are collected from the playground hut at 3:30pm.

How you can help

Please ensure your child reads to an adult for a minimum of 10 minutes on a daily basis. When reading, ask your child a wide range of comprehension questions. If they can then fill out the reading record with a comment, it will enable the year 4 team to track your child’s reading. They should bring their reading record and reading books (a colour banded book and their reading for pleasure book) in every day, so that we can sign or change them regularly. Bug Club is a great way to assess your child’s understanding of the book they have read. Please read the yellow letter you received for more advance and support on this.

Furthermore, please ensure homework is completed every week, this includes practising spellings.

The year 4 class has a weekly Times Table Rock Stars session. The children should practise online as frequently as possible to help prepare for their multiplication test in the summer term.

Please ensure that you ask your child about their Word of the Day and Word of the Week; get them to explain its meaning to another member of your household to really check their understanding!
